Hello Caterpillar Parents,

Its June already! Half the year has gone. Time flies when you are having fun πŸ™‚ It’s been another great month with our Caterpillar friends. We would like to introduce some new and wonderful friends. The more the merrier and we do have lots of fun in the Caterpillar Room.

For the last month our friends have been interested in different types of transport like trucks, cars, helicopters and planes. Each day when we go outside we all look up and see if we can find a plane or helicopter, and occasionally we even see a jet.

We also had the water safety visitors come and teach us how to be safe around water, we even got to paint our own surf life saving flags to swim between. Our Caterpillars participated in Reconciliation week, where we did some Aboriginal paintings and read dreamtime stories. Our friends took a keen interest in the Dreamtime story about how the birds got their colours, and this gave us the perfect opportunity to talk about colours and to talk about birds and the different coloured feathers.

It’s World Cup time and we are doing our best to get involved by learning about it and also extending on that subject by learning about different sports. Maybe the Caterpillars will have their own little version of World Cup πŸ™‚

I would like to take this time to thank parents for helping out in each child’s learning. We are still asking parents to let us know about any new activities that the Caterpillars have been doing over the weekend or throughout the week so we can expand on their learning. To make this easier we are introducing a Caterpillar Room Mascot. Each week one of our friends will be taking home Blue Clues plush toy. Blues Clues would like to read stories, go to the park and meet your friends. So we are asking if parents could please take the plush toy to the different activities. Blues Clues will have a book with her and we ask if you could please write down what Blue did with your family. You may include pictures if you like.

We are doing more and more activities like this to help parents get involved and to get the children excited about their learning and if parents have any questions please feel free to ask. We are also asking if parents could please remember to label all clothing, sheets and bottles. We apologise if we have accidentally confused any of your child’s items with another child, but it makes it a lot easier when they are labelled.

We look forward to the next month and all the learning that we will be involved in, but rug up because it’s now the middle of Winter and getting a lot colder πŸ™‚

Kind regards,
Sarah πŸ™‚
